Latvian team’s „RE Autoclub” and the world-famous auto rally pilot’s Toni Gardemeister cooperation successfully continues and on 7th of July in Moscow, Red square, Finnish driver together with latvian co-pilot Agris Pētersons will begin their participation in one of the world’s most prestigious rally „Silk Way”. Within a week participants will drive nearly 4000km till Gelendzhik, located near the city Sochi.
„Silk Way” rally organizers just few days before the formal start in the centre of Moscow predicted, that in competition there could be more than 100 sports car crews and approximately 25 truck cars.Total distance of the rally from Moscow to Gelendzhik is approximately 4000km, 2093km of total consists from rally stage.
Traditionally almost all the world’s best rally drivers participate in „Silk Way”. The most famous baggy driver Jean-Louis Schlesser will test his new baggy, challenging other drivers. Among the participants there also will be this years Dakar rally 5th place winner, pilot from Argentina Lucio Alvarez, who in Russia will participate with the same „Toyota”. As a potential leaders we also could call franch pilot Christian Lavielle and german pilot Matthias Kahle.
Biggest Russian motorsport fan’s hope associate with Ilya Kuznetsov and Boris Gadasin, fans also are expecting start of Czech pilot Miroslav Zapletala, because he will drive very easily noticeable car „Hummer”. „RE Autoclub” continue the cooperation with russian athletes, preparing „Mitsubishi” cars. Because of that, crew of Anton Melnikov also will participate in the „Silk Way” representing Latvian team.
„Many years team „RE Autoclub” participates in one of the world’s most perstigious rally competitions „Silk Way”. This year will be new challenge for our team, because one of the cars will be driven by Finnish athlete Toni Gardemeister, who has proved his rally master fame in previous stages. Gardemesteir with co - driver Agris Petersons are becoming even better and better, that is why this year in „Silk Way” we have set much higher goals,” commented director of „RE Autoclub” Roberts Elbakjans, before leaving to Russia.
„Team has invested big amount of work in order to prepare car for rally in Russia. I was able to make sure about that in test drives,” added Finnish pilotToni Gardemesiter, which results by organizators are predicted to be very high. „ This will be another challenge and adventure for me as a rally pilot. Technically everything should be fine, that is why me and Agris Petersons will have a chance to fight for very high positions.”
