Russian racing team „Nart Time”, in cooperation with latvian racing team „RE Autoclub”, on wednesday proceeded participation in the 16th Rallye Monte-Carlo, successfully overcoming icy and snowy mountain roads. „Moskvitch 408”, prepaired by latvian racing team ,,RE Autoclub”, once again approved the ,,combat readiness” and endurance for this rally.
Competitors, which overcomed more than 2000 kilometers in the first days already, on wednesday have encoutered by a new task - ,,tricky” mountain roads, covered with ice and snow, on the altitude 1500 meters. At the moment quitting the race has been caused by different kind of technical problems, until wednesday, when some pilots lost control over their cars.
„It might seemed strange, but the more difficult this course become, the more advantage for our Moskvitch 408 we have” – says pilot Roberts Elbakjans. „The experience from previous Monte-Carlo rally helped us a lot to prepare cars for this year’s rally. Besides, we acquire more and more new ideas on that for the future.The pilot of our other crew - Alexander Terentyev, driving Triumph TR4 A IRS, little by little starts addapting for these conditions. On this time we needed to help them only once. Considering safety, from this moment we are driving together, to maximize our chances to reach the finish of the rally”.
After the stage on the wednesday, the best result for the racing team „Nart Time” have a crew Roberts Elbakjans/Edgars Trups, reaching positon Nr.247. The other crew – Alexander Terentjev/ Alexander Terentjev Junior finished in a position Nr.253. on the checkpoint. At the moment, the 275 crews continue the race.
,,It is not so easy to adapt for historic rally, which is specific. On the last stages we get penalties all the time” says Alexander Terentyev, who drives together with his son as co-driver. „As we are not in the leading positions, the whole pleasure of the snowy roads goes to the fastest crews. Honestly, after this rally I will evaluate the choise of the Triumph for the next years... Maybe I must rely on the Moskvitch?”
