Latvia’s “RE Autoclub” pilot Gardmeister will face serious challenge in Russia’s “Silk Way”

In the last weekend March 15th – 17th in Italy, Pordenone region, the 20th time already took place the cross-country rally event ,,Italian Baja”. During the big competition between 122 entries – 83 crews in the car class, 39 drivers in the motorcycle and quad classes, the victory in the car class won the driver from Brasil Reinaldo Varela and driver Alesandro Ruoso from Italy – in the motorcycle class.
International racing team ,,RE Autoclub” participated with a crew from Russia – Alexander Terentyev /Alexander Terentyev junior, in overall rankings taking 24th position, but in standart wehicle classification (T2) – 7th place. The russian crew – father and son Terentyev have rich experienced in cross-country competitions. They have participated in the Russian championship of cross-country rally, and also in previous years of FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup and in the most prestigous marathonrally in Argentina, Chile and Peru - Dakar 2012.
For this year event the organizers choosed the similar type of the distance like last year – river beds, a lot of corners, gravel roads, pot-holes. Unexpected of hard rain, several stages through the river beds organisers was forced to cancel some event stages and change places to another location.
Roberts Elbakjans, the team director of the racing team ,,RE Autoclub”, is satisfied with the team’s perfomance: ,,I am very glad about our crew – Alexander Terentyev/Alexander Terentyev junior, which achieved the good result – 7th position in Standart wehicle class, and in overall ranking - 23rd, among more than 60 crews. The best their result was 3rd position after the second day of the race”.
As the main target of the nearest future, the racing team ,,RE Autoclub” set the participating in all stages of the Russian championship of the cross-country rally, in order to preparing for the Dakar Rally 2014 as good as possible.
