After the 4th stage of Russian Championship „RE Autoclub” in overall ranking retains 1st place
Latvian team „RE Autoclub” in this weekend will participate in Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) World cup stage in Poland – „Baja Poland”, which will start on Friday in Szczecin. „RE Autoclub” colours will be represented by russian pilot Aleksander Terentyev jr. with latvian helmsman Agris Pētersons, and also russian crew Ilya Kuznetsov/Roman Elagin.
Fight for the important points for FIA World cup overall rank will bring world class rallyraid stars to Poland. In „Baja Poland” car with number 1 on it will be represented by pilot from Dubai Khalifa al Mutaiwei („Mini All4 Racing”) and with number 2, french pilot Jean-Louis Schlesser with special buggy „Schlesser Original”.
There are also other pilots that are in FIA highlighted list like Polish pilot Kshishtof Holovchik („Mini All4 Racing”), czech pilot Miroslav Zapletal („Hummer3 Evo”), and Russian pilots Boriss Gadasin and Vladimir Vasilyev („G-Force Proto”). Straight away after these 6 celebrities, with such a lucky number for others in Poland’s offroads will drive „RE Autoclub” duet Ilya Kuznetsov and Roman Eelagin with „Mitsubishi Pajero Evo”.
This is going to be the sixth stage out of total eight in FIA World cup 2012. At the moment there are two leaders – Mutaiwei(107points) and Schlesser(102points). Third place with 60points is been taken by Qatari pilot Nasser Al-Attiyah, who’s participated only once and has won rallyraid which took place in his birthplace.
„RE Autoclub” pilot Kuznetsov currently with 47 points is in seventh place, but Latvian team’s second pilot Toni Gardemeister, who is not in the squad at the moment because of the back injury is in 19th place with 10points which he received in „Italian Baja”.
Overall distance in „Baja Poland” is going to be approximately 500km, more than a half of the distance will take place in Szczecin region’s landfill. Firday only prologue, but Saturday and Sunday two stages.
„Most of the race will take part in landfill, so hopefully, our gained experience in Ādaži practices will pay-off and will help to gain great results in such conditions,” said „RE Autoclub” director Roberts Elbakjans before leaving to Poland. „No doubt that Ilya Kuznetsov’s and Roman Elagin’s aim is to fight for the top positions and World cup overall points. Second crew will participate in experimental sqaud, because so far Aleksander Terentyev jr. was participating as a helmsman for his father Aleksander Terentyev, but this time Aleksander Terentyev jr. will be the pilot and his helmsan is going to be experienced Agris Pētersons.”
In September one of the last FIA World cup stage will take place in Egypt and the last one in November will take place in Portugal, but „RE Autoclub” action and attention will be concentrated on their own rallyraid „Riga Baja”, which will take place from 21st till 23rd September in Jēkabils, Madona and Rugāju region roads. For Participants of the fifth stage of Russian championship this is going to be much serious challenge because track is going to be 160km longer than previous two years.
„While there are rallyraids and preparations for „Riga Baja” „RE Autoclub” is preparing much better and powerfull car for our Finnish pilot Toni Gardemeister,” says Elbakjans.
„No doubt, that the fans of rally which will take place in Latvia next year, will have the opportunity to watch face to face our experienced Finnish pilot Toni Gardemeister races with prepared rally car „Mitsubishi”.
„Once again,I wish quick and successful recovery from the injury to Toni, so we could realize our plans for year 2013!”.
