Russian rally raid championship leaders will be declared in Latvia, during „Riga Baja” competitions.

As „Riga Baja” participants registration is closed, it is known, that on Saturday’s official rally raid opening ceremony in Jekabpils Vecpilsetas square the start will be given for 27 equipages. Among these crews will be three latvian teams, and also one international team with latvian pilot Aldis Vilcans („Rusj-Sport” team).

We will also be able to see vice-champions from „Riga Baja 2010” – Janis Naglis and Jr.Janis Naglis with „Mitsubishi Pajero MPR 96” („RE Autoclub” team), Ansis Freibergs and Zintis Kalvans with „Mitsubishi Pajero”, and „OSC” team representatives Toms Brants and Martins Tuters with „OSCaR”. Without any doubts, the most surprising team will be „RE Autoclub” pilot Tapio Suominen and his co-driver Markku Hurskainen from Finland. „RE Autoclub” second team will compete in „Riga Baja” with prepared car for „flying finn” Tony Gardemeister – „Mitsubishi Pajero L2”.

This year Russian rally raid championship four stages were held in February - „Belogorje”, April - „The Gold of Kagan”, June - „Simbirskij Trakt” and in July – „Silk Way”. Last stage crucial competitions for Russian champions will be held in Latvia.

„This year in „Riga Baja” will participate a record number of crews – only for few teams less than in FIA World championship stage in Poland! Besides, in average for „Riga Baja” sports cars are better prepared than in World championship stages,” emphasizes „Riga Baja” director Roberts Elbakjans. „In Latvia we will be able to see both world class racing cars and for spessific projects made cars – in Russia widely known car from „E-Auto” and in South-Africa produced car „BMW X6” with Andrey Dimtriyev as pilot.”

„Riga Baja” starts in September 21 with technical and administrative commission. In September 22 at 12:30 pm in Jekabpils Vecpilsetas square will be held official rally raid opening ceremony, but at 12:45 pm will be given start for 6 km long prolog.
