At „Africa Eco Race” A. Terentyev celebrating the first place in class T2

On the January 10th, "Africa Eco Race" rally raid competition ended. Among participants there were also member of RE Autoclub crew A. Terentyev / A.Berkut from Russia (with Ford F150 Raptor SVT) who managed to take the 20th place in the overall standings and the first place in class T2 (production all-terrain vehicles).

"Africa Eco Race" featured 12 special stages, which took place from December 29th to January 10th, with a total distance of 5978 km, out of which 3750 km were special stages. The race took place across off-road routes in Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal.

Overall, there were 39 participants in 4 wheel category, including seven trucks.

Starting from the first special stage, which took place in the territory of Morocco on Tuesday, A.Terentyev gained lead in the T2 class, but overall - 19th position.

During the 313 kilometres of the second stage from Jorf El Hamam to Tangouniti, A. Terentyev fell to the second place in the T2 class and lost three positions in the overall standings.

On the New Year's Eve in the third stage in Morocco A. Terentyev continued to lose couple of positions and ranked 25th in the standings.

But the beginning of the New Year was more successful, and in the 409 kilometre special stage from Assas to Ramsey El Kebir, A. Terentyev was able to recover 5 positions rising to the 20th place, as well as the first place in the T2 class. Before the resting days, on Saturday January 2nd, Terentyev reached the 18th place, but did not retain the position, and the next day entered the race as the 20th and managed to hold it.

The motorcycle class for the second year in a row was won in a convincing manner by the experienced Norwegian Pal Anders Ulevalsters (KTM), who gained lead at the beginning of the raid and dominated thereafter. In the end Ulevalsters was ahead of the runner-up by about six hours.

In the car and truck class there was a fierce battle fought for all the first three places. With only 24 minute lead, the raid was won by Kanat Shagirov from Kazakhstan, barely ahead of Pascal Thomas. Third place was taken by Mathieu Seradori. On the truck class, Kamaz took the 1st place and the crew of Anton Shibalov ranked 7th overall.
